I have to say, I was expecting something by today. Maybe I'll get lucky and 1.0.5 will get approved tonight. Not holding my breath.
Rumor has it that iPhone OS 2.1 will be released tomorrow at the apple media event. Here's hoping that happens as well as the 2.1 features that apple has previously pulled from their beta software will be available -- that will mean good things for compass rotation and update calculations. Which, I am hoping, will translate into battery savings. Though at the current rate will not be for a long time in an update. =)
A quick note on my call with groundspeak. I may have more news later, but for now the answer is that the terms of use are in full effect. I'm disappointed, it sure is annoying to have to do that. I'm working on a better solution that is within the terms of use, but everything that has been thought of or suggested is not trivial to make happen. I'll keep you updated on this.
Also, in case anyone missed this the first time, the new version will support URL linking. So that means that if you have a website that has cache information, you can embed links that open up Geopher Lite when clicked. One of our beta testers has a (somewhat complicated) means of making up a website with links that point to Geopher Lite, and it works well. If he's agreeable I may link a tutorial for that here.
Back to the waiting game...

You may not have gotten the word, but I just downloaded 1.0.5. Already love the new prefs. Rotation On! Thanks for the update.
No, I hadn't gotten word. Apparently it was approved sometime this evening. Thanks for the heads up kingofthelair!
Woohoo! Thanks for all your hard work DadGuy, thanks for being ridiculously slow Apple, thanks for not allowing us to have coordinate entry Groundspeak!
DadGuy,
Could you publish the details about the URL startup of Geopher Lite? I would like to 'connect' my free Geocacher ToolKit to your app in a future version (just released version 1.0 to Apple a few days ago).
My toolkit allows people to calculate new waypoints using projection formula's (besides some other handy tools when doing a multi-cache, targeted for use in the field).
Keep up the good work, I hope 2.1 will improve the GPS direction tracking.
wim,
I will be posting tonight or tomorrow about the URL linking. And hopefully we will have some news about the 2.1 update by then.
2.1 will be out Friday
I'm assuming they don't want automated viewing of the site but what's to stop the user browsing to a file and you pataif the required information from the page? Technically your not automating as it's the user that initiates the connection......maybe.....
Just got the update. Great job with the back button and stop button, etc. Haven't tried update in the field, but have used last version for at least a dozen caches. Sorry, I am a newbee to geocaching, but what is the waypoint field used for, and/or what do I put there? Thanks Again, Joe
Work with OpenClip (http://openclip.org) to get copy/paste working with Geopher Lite. Then we can just copy and paste the coordinates. Not the most ideal situation, but certainly a step in the right direction.
anonymous, I am already working with openClip. Their current implementation isn't compatible with the app store, they are revamping it so it is in your own application only. Also copy/paste from a web view is not in their example code, so even then it's almost like coding it myself. is typing in the numbers really harder than copy/paste at this point?
Lovely bllog you have here
